Come along to energy advice drop-in
Community news on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch | 10 June 2025
On Tuesday 10 June, join Neighbourhood Watch's drop-in event to learn about upcoming changes to energy meters.
Neighbourhood Watch is organising a range of community events across the country to inform people about possible changes to their energy meters. There has been a significant amount of coverage in the news recently about energy meters and a BBC radio signal used to control them. This relates to an older type of meter called RTS, which stands for Radio Teleswitch.
- Date: Tuesday 10 June 2025
- Time: 11.30am to 1.30pm
- Location: Ham Youth Centre, Ham Close, Richmond TW10 7PL
RTS is a service that communicates with the meter to tell it when to switch between peak and off-peak times. It also signals the consumer unit when to turn a customer’s heating and hot water on and off.
This technology is now outdated, which is why it is being switched off. The switch-off date is 30 June 2025.
Once the RTS signal is turned off, all meters that rely on this system will stop working correctly. This could have a significant impact, especially on some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
Check your energy meters to see if you are affected. Come along to one of the events or visit the website to find out more.
