Good Move scheme - ULEZ support

About the scheme

The Good Move scheme was launched in May 2023 in order to support residents who wish to dispose of or replace a vehicle that is non-compliant with the Mayor of London's Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ), ahead of its expansion in August 2023.

We have secured a range of great offers which can help you save money and use greener, cleaner forms of transport.

These include discounted bikes and cargo bikes, free car club memberships, free bikehangar membership and free Lime bikes and e-scooter vouchers.

Eligibility

The scheme is now open to all residents of Richmond upon Thames but limited to one application per household.

Try Before You Bike (TBYB)

Thinking about cycling but not sure where to start? Whether you’re commuting, carrying the kids, or making local deliveries - there’s a bike, and a flexible offer, for you through TBYB.

TBYB is a council-supported scheme that makes it easy and affordable to trial a bike before committing to ownership. With no commitment or upfront costs and monthly payments that go towards purchase, it’s ideal for anyone looking to make cycling part of everyday life.

For local businesses

Get access to a high-quality electric cargo bike for six months at no cost — with no commitment and no hidden fees. Ideal for local deliveries, travelling between sites, or switching to a more sustainable mode of transport. At the end of the trial, you can choose to buy the bike at a discounted rate, continue to hire it, or return it with no strings attached. 

For residents

Choose a bike that suits your lifestyle — all bikes come with accessories, insurance, and home delivery included. Hire fees are 50% subsidised by us, and both the voucher and your payments go towards owning the bike if you decide to keep it.

• Pedal bike – £25 per month (50% off for 6 months) 
• E-bike – £60 per month (50% off for 6 months) 
• Electric cargo bike – £150 per month (50% off for 12 months)

Short term cargo bike hire

How to apply

To apply for these offers, complete the online form.

You will be contacted within five working days of your application. Once eligibility is confirmed a voucher code will be sent to you to redeem.
